Summer time, lake time, time outdoors & ICE CREAM for all the time in between! The temperature is rising, days are longer and if you ever drive Hwy 115 between Davidson & Cornelius, you pass the oh so yummy Carolina Cones. I hope you’ve stopped at least once, but if you haven’t, make a point to go this month and you’re sure to be back many times.
We happen to live within walking distance and our dog just loves walking to (I mean past) Carolina Cones. Although we try many of the flavor options, we have our staple – a chocolate milkshake, that we share. I love the lemon ice cream on a sugar cone as a close second. It tastes like the lemon cream cookies, yum. You just can’t beat that milkshake, though!
If you’ve ever been before, you’ll likely remember the oldies music that left quite the impression on a number of reviewers (Google, Yelp, etc.). They have since changed it (and the crowds rejoice). When you step inside you enter old school ice cream parlor. Train lovers will get a kick out of the train the circles above head. If you need a balloon for any occasion, just check out the ceiling for your options.
Grab your ice cream and go chill outside on the many benches. Little ones have a tiny merry-go-round for entertainment, there is a playground for the older kids. Play checkers at the outdoor tables on the painted on boards, just go inside to get your game pieces.
I’d love to hear your favorite ice cream at Carolina Cones. Have you been? Did you love it? Want to meet there soon? 🙂
